When I entered The Ohio State University in the early 1990’s, Eudora was the email client of choice. It wasn’t a bad choice either, as generally speaking the software worked great, perhaps better than anything else at the time.

Over time however, it seems that Eudora has taken a back seat to some of the stiff competition which surfaced as email use really began to take off. In fact, I wasn’t even aware the software was still under active development.

Now it seems as if Qualcomm, the company behind Eudora, is seeking to breathe new life into the product, announcing it will be open sourced sometime in 2007. Further, they announced a partnership with The Mozilla Foundation, stating this next version would be based on Thunderbird.
